Cllr. Val Humphries
Droitwich Town Council – West
Val moved to Droitwich in 2013 and instantly felt at home. A Londoner
by birth she can’t ever imagine living anywhere else but Droitwich now.
Val currently works as an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer at Hereford County
Hospital providing support and information for patients experiencing
sight loss. She has worked in the voluntary sector for over 25 years
mainly in advice or service provision roles. She is able to use her own
experience of sight loss to connect with patients as she knows first-hand
the frustrations of living with sight loss.
Val is Unite workplace rep and has been active in the Labour party of
over 30 years. She was inspired to join by Billy Bragg and Margaret
Thatcher in equal measure. Outside of work Val has always been a
passionate campaigner for equality of opportunity for all and has been
involved in local and national campaigns. To relax Val enjoys music,
quizzes, and the theatre and is currently studying for her professional
coaching qualification. She lives with her husband Alan and three rescue
cats.
“I’m not your typical councillor. We need more women and disabled people in decision making roles. I know as a councillor my influence is limited, but I always guarantee to listen and to do my best for the people I represent.”
