Letters: Moral Bankruptcy of this Government

A recent correspondent to the Guardian, Peter Brooker, made the astute comment that ‘the great thing about ‘Partygate’ is that we can now see clearly which Conservative MPs are decent human beings.’

As the list grows longer of those MPs openly calling for a change of leadership for their party and the country, and expressing their inability to condone the behaviour, lack of integrity and dishonesty of the Prime Minister, we unfortunately look in vain for any Worcestershire MPs among that number. Instead, they stand by as he shamelessly moves to amend the Ministerial Code, again trying to change the rules by diktat and edge us closer to becoming an authoritarian state.

Those Conservative MPs who remain silent or openly support ‘business as usual’ in the light of the shocking revelations about lockdown parties in Downing Street and this attempt to evade accountability, must be seen as complicit in the moral bankruptcy of this government. Let’s make sure that all Worcestershire electors remember this when the opportunity arises to replace them
