Caring Hands Donations will Spread Festive Cheer

The collection of Christmas food items from the charity’s ‘shopping list’ of treats for families in need from the local community was organised in association with the Brew Bear Coffee House

Evesham Labour Party members and supporters responded generously to a request to donate Christmas food and treats for distribution by Caring Hands foodbank to local families in need.

This annual appeal raised even more produce than last year, despite the cost-of-living squeeze. Last Friday (December 2) Brew Bear Coffee House in Evesham High Street, a year-round collection point for Caring Hands, hosted the event and transported the donations to the foodbank.

Labour party members were invited to drop off their contributions and chat over a coffee or tea and cake during the afternoon.

Peter Daw, who helped to organise the event, said: “We are hugely grateful for the way people give so unselfishly each year and we hope these donations will help make Christmas more enjoyable for the recipients.

“However, it remains a disgrace that our rich country is so unequal, after years of Conservative governments, we need foodbanks at all.

“We must continue to work to change that.’
